International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is an international nonprofit research for development (R4D) organization founded in 1967, led by a board of directors and is supported primarily by the Consultative Group for Research International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our R4D is anchored on the development needs of SSA.
We develop agricultural solutions with our partners in the fight against hunger and poverty by reducing the risks of producers and consumers, improving crop quality and productivity, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have over 100 internationally renowned scientists recruited in approximately 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based on various stations across Africa.
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks Nigerian nationals for the following positions at the headquarters of the Institute, Ibadan.
1.) Oracle Programmer (2-year renewable contract)
Features: The successful candidate will include: Assist in the development and maintenance of Oracle-based financial reporting systems; Provide technical support on Oracle E-Business Suite V. especially related to finance and maintain Oracle-based payroll system developed in-house; Review and optimization of SQL and PL / SQL code. Packages database design and procedures Provide support and assistance to the development team in the design, development, testing, development and implementation of database applications; Create and maintain SQL queries and routines; Write ad hoc queries to finance various reports; Design, develop and create customized reports based on business needs; Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualification and experience: Minimum BSc / HND Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) and at least eight (8) years hands on experience, two (2) what needs to be placed on Oracle E-Business Suite v. II performance. Candidates must be qualified and experienced in the following key areas: Thorough knowledge of Oracle 8i/9/19g + A thorough knowledge of SQL and PL / SQL, including tuning, Oracle Forms and Reports development. A good working knowledge of job scheduling and tracking tools. Familiarity with Oracle tools and utilities specific (Quest TOAD, PLSQL Developer, SQL Developer, JDeveloper. Net ASP.Net Knowledge of C and Java programming.
2.) Research Associate (2 year contract renewable)
Features: The successful candidate will include: Help and support scientific support to national programs on product development, processing and use of IITA mandate crops (cassava, maize, soybean, yam and cowpea) Provide technical support to processing companies for small and medium on the treatment and use of crops IITA mandate; Assist in conducting training workshops for trainers and demonstrations and collaborate with industry on product development, etc. Develop new products using cassava, corn soy, yams and cowpeas; Working with non-governmental and community-based organizations to disseminate technologies on crops IITA mandate; Responsible for daily operation of food processing and engineering laboratories postharvest; Link with other projects involved in the marketing of crops IITA mandate; Maintain correspondence and relationships with collaborators; Provide expertise in quality control / assurance of food products and analytical data; Assist in planning, implementation and monitoring of pilot processing plants and perform other duties as may be assigned. Qualification and experience: MSc Food Science / Technology or B.Sc. with 10 years of professional experience in product development and liaising with farmers. He / She will also need to have good communication skills oral and written. In addition, candidates must be honest, diligent, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Position requires extensive local and international travel frequently. Application letter should indicate how the applicant's home and experience relates to specific duties of the position.
. 3) Research Director (2-year renewable contract) -
Location: Bauchi
Features: The candidate will: community analysis conducted. Participate in social mobilization of farmers. Strengthen farmers groups to use agricultural technology Collect socioeconomic data. Facilitating farmers market ties. Gather and synthesize field data and perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualification and experience: BSc / HND farm management, agricultural extension, agriculture-based economy. Relevant work experience in field investigations, market surveillance, links, data collection and management. Experience working in development projects in northern Nigeria is added advantage. She is also working knowledge of the Hausa language is required and candidates must be computer.
4.) Mechanic II (2-year renewable contract)
Features: The candidate will: Perform preventive maintenance services for tractors at maturity; Repairs and maintenance over the period of various tractor models, such as New Holland, Caterpillar and David Brown; Work on agricultural machinery such as Plough, Harrow, planters, sprayers and other fully assembled, semi-mounted and leak out; Keep daily records, housekeeping exercise and perform all other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualification and experience: Minimum Test WASC / Commerce I, ND Agricultural Engineering and at least two (2) years in the studio tractor. The candidate must be honest, physically fit and ready to work under pressure and at odd hours when needed.
